2025 Camp DETAILS- Full day camp
ADVENTURE SAILING - for beginners and up
Hours: 9 am-4 pm
Session Duration: 5 days
Session Dates: June 2-6, June 9-13, June 16-20 (members only), June 23-27, July 7-11
Ages: 8-14
Description:
The "Adventure Camp" is designed to get your child engaged in sailing and feeling comfortable on the water. It will teach them the basics of water/boater safety, sailing, and paddling. We are excited to offer a class that provides first-time sailors (or returning sailors) a chance to get their feet wet in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! Students will learn the basics of knot tying, parts of the boat, water safety, sail rigging, capsize recovery, and more. Sailors may learn on a variety of boats, including Sunfish, RS Tera, RS Quest, and Hobie Wave. In addition to sailing lessons, camp will also incorporate drowning prevention, hiking, outdoor games, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding.
This camp is a prerequisite for the half-day sessions.
Registration(s) limited to approximately 12-15 sailors per session – register early due to limited space!
Each student must complete a swim test on the first day of class.
Medical Consent and Waiver Forms will be emailed to registrants and must be completed in order to confirm spot in class.
Pricing: (full day) $375 (after 3/31/2025 add an additional $25)***

5% discount if registering for multiple week-long camps
Refunds, minus a $25 non-refundable cancellation charge, are available up until 14 days prior to start of registered camp session.
Two-Day
Boater Safety Class
Optional Add-On Course
Hours: 9 am-3 pm
Session Duration: 2 days
Session Dates: May 29-30
Ages: 11-17
This is an optional add-on course for those registered for Adventure Sailing. In order to register for this class, you must also be enrolled in a week of Adventure Sailing.
All Campers 11 years and older enrolled in Adventure Sailing are able to register for this optional add-on boater safety class. This two-day class will teach the Georgia DNR Boater Safety Course, allowing students to earn their state boater certification. Days will consist of the DNR workbook, followed by on-the-water lessons. Students will learn how to launch, maintain, and safely operate a small powerboat. By joining this class with a week of Adventure Camp, students will also be able to earn their Spirit of America Certification. (Another option is our week-long Spirit of America Class, which includes the curriculum of the two-day boater safety class, as well as teaches sailing on Hunter 15s, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding. See further down for more details about the Spirit of America Class.)
Registration is limited to approximately 16-20 students per session – register early due to limited space!

Spirit of America
Youth Boater Education CLASS
Hours: 9 am-4 pm
Session Duration: 5 days
Session Dates: July 14-18
Ages: 11-17
Augusta Community Sailing, in conjunction with Augusta Sailing Club, is excited to partner with Spirit of America Foundation- National Premier Youth Boating Education Program. Students will have the opportunity to obtain their Georgia Safe Boating Certificate and learn how to operate different types of watercraft including sailboats (Hunter 15s), paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, and motorboats, while participating in water-based activities that provide the opportunity to develop lifelong skills. Based on a “learn by doing” program, students develop self-esteem, exercise teamwork, safe seamanship, boating and water safety practices, and demonstrate responsibility. This class it is taught by our ASC Sailing Instructors and Volunteers. All adults working with youth are background checked. In addition, ASC Instructors are required to be Safe Sport certified. Completion of this week-long class includes the opportunity for students to earn both their GA Safe Boating Certification and their Spirit of America Certification. (Another alternative would be to take a week of Adventure Sailing along with the two-day Boater Safety Class).

High School Sailing- 420
Hours: 9 am- 12 pm
Session Duration: 5 days

Ages: 14-17 (8 per session)
Description:
This course is for those interested in high school sailing as a team sport, as well as experienced sailors ready to learn double hand sailing. Sailors will learn water safety, boat controls, basic sailing maneuvers, basic seamanship, wind direction, introduction to symmetrical spinnaker, and sailing a course.
BEGINNER SUNFISH
Hours: 1 pm - 4 pm
Session Duration: 5 days

Ages: 14-17 (6 per session)
Description:
The Beginner Sunfish Camp is designed to teach your child how to sail and feel comfortable on the water. It will teach them the basics of water safety and sailing. We are excited to offer a class that provides first-time sailors (or returning sailors) a chance to get their feet wet in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! Students will learn the basics of knot tying, parts of the boat, water safety, and sail rigging. In addition to the basics, they will experience the thrill of independently sailing a sunfish across the lake.
BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE O'PEN SKIFF (BIC)
Hours: 1 pm - 4 pm
Session Duration: 5 days
Session Dates: June 9-13
Ages: 9-14 (7 per session)
Description:
This is for sailors who have previously taken a course through the Augusta Sailing Club and wish to continue their education. Students will learn through classroom and on-the-water activities in the O'pen Skiff sailboat. They will improve skills in water safety, boat controls, basic sailing maneuvers, basic seamanship, wind direction, and sailing a course.

Half Day Camps
Previous sail camp experience needed.
Enrollment in half-day camps is at the Junior Chair's discretion based of student's sailing ability. If there is any question, or if a course requires approval, please email sailcamp@augustasailingclub.org

Instructors
Our instructors are certified by US Sailing and supported by club volunteers. Our instructors' primary concern is the safety of our campers. Their goal is for everyone to enjoy their time on the water in a safe and positive environment.
Camper Equipment to bring to camp each day:
Life Jacket- USCG approved PFD
Hat
Sunglasses (eyewear retainers/Croakies required with glasses)
Sunscreen
Lip balm with spf protection
Towel
Water shoes (closed toed shoes- NO FLIP FLOPS)
Change of clothes (lightweight clothing that dries quickly is ideal; avoid cotton)
Water bottle to take on boat, plus plenty of water for the day
Lunch each day (We recommend hard lunch boxes to deter squirrels and birds)
Student should wear their bathing suit as we will be in the water each day.
One camp shirt is provided per child. However, we cannot guarantee shirt availability or size if registered after May 15, 2025.
