RESULTS
6 juniors made the trip (with 3 others registered, but unable to attend.)
ASC juniors did a great job. 8 kids sailing well in 5 to 10 mph. They continue to improve and have fun out on the water.
It was cold and windy. ASC had 12 juniors sailing in the event. With great sailing in the Laser Radial, 4.7, and Open Skiff classes. Way to go juniors.
162 boats showed up. It was awesome and exhausting.
There is no direct link to results. Phlotilla is not ready for the prime time. The link will get you to the event page and then you will need to navigate to the results.
Fun event. ASC made cotton candy for the kids (and some adults.)
The weather was beautiful. 8 Juniors made the trip 5 O'pen Skiffs and 3 ILCAs. ASC took 1st and 3rd in Skiffs and 2nd in ILCA 6 (Laser Radial). All around great event.
The weather provided us with light and variable conditions. 12 juniors raced with the largest fleet being the O'pen Skiffs. Very proud of the kids for their improvements and good sportsmanship throughout the weekend.
Birmingham Sailing Club on Lake Logan hosted the US Sailing - USA Junior Olympic Festival event. There was good breeze on Saturday and Sunday. Three ASC juniors made the trip to compete. With a fleet of 7 O'pen Skiffs, Hailey and Oliver finished 1st and 2nd on a tie-break with 7 points each. Alex was disappointed with no one to sail against on ILCA 6. The fleets of Optis, ILCA 4s, and 420s featured larger fleets.
CYCNC hosts a great event. Our crew had rain and storms on Saturday and relatively light air on Sunday. We had 2 juniors on O'pen Skiffs finishing 6 races in the sound with Oliver and Hailey sailing very well earning 1st and 2nd place on a tie-break. We had 2 juniors on ILCA 6 (Laser Radial). 4 races out in the ocean.
SYC- Laser Regatta
Savannah, GA
June 5-6, 2021
The Savannah Yacht Club put on a great event. The wind was good, but it was a long sail out to the course for everyone and a harrowing return in lightning on Saturday. It was hot, but the pool was a great place to cool off and relax after a tiring day of racing. Only 2 juniors sailed in the event. The Radial fleet was competitive with 12 registrants. Alex finished 2nd and Kaitlyn 4th.
Hobcaw- Open Regatta
Charleston, SC
July 10-11, 2021
Hobcaw has a great pool and all the juniors had fun sailing and playing. ASC had 8 juniors racing. 3 in the O'pen Skiff and 5 ILCA 6 (Laser Radial). Kaitlyn finished 4 in a very competitive fleet of 26. With Alex, Gaines, and Michael all sailing well in 10-12 knots. The current was strong, and after a brief delay on Saturday for light breeze, we finished the weekend with 6 races.
Jensen Beach, FL
March 26-28, 2021
4 Juniors sailed in this event. The breeze was heavy both days. ASC had 4 juniors in the fleet of 56. 17 races were completed. In the under 13 division, Hailey finished 5th, Oliver 6th,(Hailey and Oliver were within 2 points) Grant 8th, and Katelyn 9th. *Some of the U13 competitors had adults or teen instructors on their boats while racing due to heavy wind. So there is a bit of discrepancy if you view the results.
2020 ASC Jr Championship
October 25, 2020
O'pen Skiff - Hailey Bagnoni
Sunfish - Zeal Saballa
Laser Radial - Alex Bagnoni
Halloween Regatta - ASC
October 10-11, 2020
I cannot say enough about what a great event this was even with COVID restrictions and limited social events. The event was not open to all classes, but we still ended up with about 60 juniors skippering across multiple fleets with 23 of our own ASC juniors. We had 2 days of excellent conditions for racing and the Lobster rolls on Saturday were killer!!!
31 Lasers - 13-4.7, 16-radial, 2-full; 21 O'pen Skiffs, and 7 Sunfish.
